(#28 on football team) Matt Thomas, a senior at Vidor High School, was killed by a train Sunday morning on the KCS Railroad tracks in the 2000 block of Old Highway 90, across from the entrance of the little league baseball park.

No one is sure why Matt had laid down on the track (He was in the middle of the tracks) but he was drunk and fell alseep (Some say he was dead before the train hit him we are unsure right now) but Matt was a good freind of mine and he was very sweet to me. He will be missed very much but for ya'll who do not know Matt here is some info:

Thomas, 18, moved to Vidor in 2009 from Oklahoma and lived with his mother and step-father, Brandee and Sammy Hampshire.

Thomas was an outside linebacker on the Vidor Pirates defense and arguably had his best game of the season this past Friday night, which included an interception in the homecoming victory against the LC-M Bears.

He was also the only African-American player on the varsity team, but he wasn’t perceived as such. He was just a Pirate.

He lives on with us forever, his family, freinds, and his mother of his unborn baby girl will always remember this great person!!
